Cookware Sets

Cookware Sets can be defined as common kitchen utensils that assist or aid in preparing food in the kitchen. Generally, they are made of materials like aluminum, stainless steel etc that do not melt easily.

Any cook or chef knows that the best arsenal that he or she can have in the kitchen is exceptional cookware. Having proper cookware sets is of prime importance in giving anybody the ability to prepare a great tasting meal.

Cookware sets come in many forms. One can purchase prepackaged cookware sets which contains various pieces that have already been preselected. Typically, each cookware set contains a large stock pot, frying pans and saucepans with lids. Some cookware sets also come with a roasting pan.

Cookware Sets History

In ancient prehistoric times, it is believed that people typically cooked their food in open fire. When they needed to put food in containers, they used natural materials such as carved stone bowls, sealed bamboo tubes and shells of turtles.

When pottery was developed, it provided for an opportunity for people to invent fireproof cooking utensils that were of various sizes and shapes. Cookware Sets made from earthenware vessels were then created and would then also be coated with plant gum. This process would convert them into waterproof utensils. Each Earthenware cookware set could not conduct heat very well. However, since the cost of making each cookware set was cheap; it became a very popular way of cooking food. Typically, the food would have to cook for longer periods of time.

Later on cookware sets started being made from either bronze of iron. Since the cost of making metal cookware was more costly, it took much longer for metal cookware sets to become popular. However by the medieval times, many people had metal cookware.

Cookware Sets Today

Currently, there are many types of materials used in making cookware sets. The type of materials used typically affects the price of cookware sets. Great concern has to be taken to ensure that the materials used do not chemically react with heat to ensure that the food made is not edible. Currently, cookware sets are made of Aluminum, Copper, Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, glazed ceramics and silicone.

Cookware Sets come in different sizes. Each cookware set may contain, frying pans, sauce pans, roasting pan, stock pots, Casseroles etc.

Typically, the shape and size of cookware sets determines how they will be used. Most people refer general cooking utensils as 'pots' and 'pans' but generally, there is a great variation in their shapes. On most occasions, cooking utensils are generally cylindrical.
